Saw this presentation last night on the Tour de France broadcast, but sadly wasnt home to hit the record button.
Calle Fegth called this morning & said it should air today aswell, since todays stage is indeed through the Cognac region.
I havent paid much attention to le Tour, so lucky for me(and you!) he called.

Cognac made the right way, if you havent tried any of their products yet, its due time you do!
It should also be noted that the Cognac you might have tasted from Jon Bertelsen is a cooperation with L. Gourmel.

Welcome to Norway!? FNC!

FNC

So you wanna come and see our beautiful fjords? The fantastic nature & hey, might be you are a dare devil & feel like trying out some of the local cuisine?

If you answer yes to atleast one of the above, best start saving up those hard earned €, $, £ or whatever currency your paycheck states.
See, the politicians seem to think the only course of action to get to the bottom of a “problem” is to tax the hell outta it. Be it food, gasoline, wine, booze, cigarettes, heck even driving on new roads is charged on a per-trip basis.

So basically we not only make it expensive to live here, but if you should want to endulge yourself in a little “luxury” while you visit, have a cooler ready so your credit card wont catch fire. The thing is, if certain political parties had their way with us, we would all be non-drinking, non-smoking religious fanatics that love to commute. Attending church atleast ones a week would also be a given..
God forbid we would want to have any pleasures in life.

Back to the morons(read politicians), the latest proposition from the chief nutters in KRF & Venstre is the get a hard grip on people that smoke. Suggesting to increase the price of a pack of cigarettes to 14€, and if you are one of the old-school smokers that roll your poison, you might look at a price tag of 33€ for 50gram of tobacco.
Not bad, considering how “cheap” it is today.. :yawn

Boy does this open a can of worms, the black marked would get its glory days. Send a sms to +47XXXXXXXX and order your cigs & booze, it will be delivered to your door..

For you as a potential tourist, dont stay here. Stay at one of our friendly neighbours and if you really need to see some fjords, take a trip over the border, be sure to fill up the tank & bring enough food & liquids..

Democracy? Mehh.. dont be fooled for a second, its Democrazy at best.
We should just merge with Russia & let Putin decide whats best for us. Atleast he doesnt try to fool his fellow men & women into thinking they have a saying in whats going on..

Why let us choose our poison when taxing us to death makes it alot slower & more painful.

Forget about Norway, do yourself a huge favor, visit Denmark or Sweden instead. I’ll personally send you a postcard of the fjords if you decide to skip Norway on your next vacation.

Do state your initial vacation budget tho, so we can get a hint of the “damage” caused by this campaign. Lets call it FNC(Fawk Norway Campaign).

In an article in a norwegian magazine(Where2Go), Kadra, a young muslim woman stated that it was long over due that we needed to look at the interpretation of the koran on how muslim men look at the modern muslim woman.

where2go_kadra_cover.jpg

Kadra got known 7 years ago when she went “undercover” wearing a mic trying to get the true feelings of the muslim community in Oslo on circumcision. She got many of the “elders” on tape stating them being pros circumcision, she had to go underground for many years after massive threats. This was all shown in the documentary “Rikets Tilstand” (State of the Kingdom) back in 2000.

Muslim men look on women dont come as a suprise, but I must admit I choked on the coffee I was sipping when I read some of the comments one of norways biggest newspapers(vg.no) got from the article.

Press spokesman Gulam Sarwar in Central Jamaat-e Ahl-E Sunnat in Oslo said;

“Kadra has no saying in anything we do”

he went on saying;

“We cant change the Koran or Islam due to her, we oppose her statements, she has no rights to violate our religion”

then came the statement that made a coffee fountain in my office;

“She can say whatever she wants, Im sure she is good looking and has a nice body, but we cant change the Koran due to what a woman says”
“The Koran is what comes from heaven, thats all there is to it”

Central Jamaat is one of the central congregations in the Islamic Council in Norway.

There is always the talk about respecting others opinions & beliefs, but asking me to respect someone who boils down a womans part in the world to a “barbie doll” position is just too much.

Kadra, you got my vote, for whatever its worth. I truly hope the muslim men will leave the bronze age & start getting with the times. I dont have high hopes that it will happen in my life time tho, they seem to like living with the blinkers on.

Live Chat (java irc client)

| March 21st, 2007

Now available in the pages menu, feel free to drop by & kick my arse or hang out & rant.

The ircd has now been migrated from IRCD-Hybrid to UnrealIRCd & its running in a newly created CentOS VPS. It has a Gentoo base system with VMware, the VPS will be migrated to Xen when the new box is up. CentOS has been slim-lined down to 740M so far, will continue stripping it down & see how small it can get. In addition to Unreal, Anope Irc Service is also setup.

The java client is Pjirc, and has many features that I have choose to leave out due to simplicity..

UPDATE_1:

After spending some time stripping CentOS last night I ended up with ~470M, and overall ram usage down to ~60M. Not good enough, so setup a minimal ubuntu server install today, only services running are sshd, crond, ircd & sendmail. Hdd usage dropped down to 280M & ram usage to 35M, not bad, but not that good either, especially seeing whats currently running on the system.
So I’ll take DSL & LFS for a spin tonight & see what kinda footprint they can offer with the services above.
Will update the post with results.

DISTRO HDD RAM
CentOS 4.4 470M 60M
Ubuntu 6.06 280M 35M
DSL 160M 30M

UPDATE_2:
After a few rounds with the above distros and lfs, gentoo & fbsd. I decided to call it quits. With the three criterias;

- small footprint
- little to no customization
- easy to maintain

..it was more a confirmation than a suprise that a debian based(ubuntu) distro got picked.
Average footprint on hdd & ram + a massive user base = done deal

So this niche VPS setup ended up well within my set limits; 500M HDD, 64-128M RAM, now how much will it increase if say 50 users are connected?

___
Id appreciate if as many as possible connect either via the web chat or directly using your pref irc client, so I can stress-test it as much as possible under the different scenarios. Thx
